"Gingerbread cookies, I believe." "I thought the gingerbread was in that little house?" "They made cookies out of the ginger I suppose." "Have you tried one?" Odo smiled at his love, she seemed to want to make sure he enjoyed himself. "Maybe we can take a ... a dog bag back to our quarters," he faltered, trying to recall the strange human term he'd heard Jake use once. "I thought that was a puppy bag?" "Doggy bag." Odo and Kira turned to find Ezri smiling at them both. She snitched a gingerbread cookie from between them and beamed. "It's called a doggy bag." She munched on the cookie and gagged abruptly, waved off their worried frowns as she gamely swallowed the portion of cookie, then smiled apologetically. "Sorry. Jadzia used to like these. I don't like them at all!" "You've never had one?" "Have you?" Ezri picked up a small cup of punch and washed down the taste of the cookie. "Something definitely doesn't mesh with Trill physiology, at least *mine*." Kira picked up a cookie and bit into it. Her eyes widened in appreciation. She nodded. "It's good. I like it. It's got a great aftertaste." "I think that's what I *didn't* like." Ezri smiled sheepishly. "Oh, well. Plenty of other great things. Did you try Jake's aubergine stew?" "No." "It's his first attempt at making it and it's scrumptious." "I'll try some." Kira promised, finishing the cookie. The young Trill beamed at them both, grabbed another cup of punch and headed toward Garak who sat in a corner behind the Christmas tree, seemingly avoiding everyone. Kira grabbed another cookie. "Mm. These *are* good." "Ezri didn't seem to think so." "Probably a Trill thing. Mm, mm... they really are *delicious*." Odo looked askance at Nerys' expressions of deep appreciation. She looked as if she was having raptures. He leaned in close and whispered, "I guess I'll have to learn to make those." Kira chuckled knowingly at this. "Jealous?" He chuckled, too, delighted that he felt relaxed enough in their relationship to be able to joke with her. "Absolutely. I won't have you leave me over a confection." "Well, they're not *that* good." Kira grinned. "Good." Odo steered Kira toward some of their shipmates nonetheless. He didn't notice her quickly snitching three more cookies with her free hand... They headed for a small group of their station friends, where Julian was growing boyishly enthusiastic, as he still did from time to time. "And just wait for the best part of the evening!" "What would that be?" Sisko wanted to know. "The main guest of honour!" Julian beamed, causing Odo to frown and turn to Kira who shrugged back. "Better be soon is all I can say." O'Brien muttered, shifting his sleeping infant son to his other shoulder. "I don't like Molly and Yoshi being up this late." "Oh, Miles. Yoshi's sleeping. Besides, it's Christmas Eve." "I know. But it's almost 2100." "It's not every night they get to see Santa. Besides, Molly looks so happy." Keiko smiled at her daughter who was talking animatedly with a somber-looking Worf who stood by their Christmas tree, quietly telling her a Klingon story replete with gestures using an invisible bat'leth. "Santa? You hired a Santa, Julian?" Kasidy asked. "Not exactly, see--" "HO! HO! HO! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!" "SANTA!!!" Molly screeched and went running to the beaming, bearded man in the bright red suit who stood just inside the O'Brien's living room. Everyone else, save Miles, Keiko and Julian gaped. "But..." "Isn't that...?" "Oh, my god! How can he be here?!" "That's..." The Santa came through the room, holding Molly in one arm and a large green velvet bag in the other. He put the bag down and elbowed the stunned Odo in a comradely fashion. "Hey, there, Nanook. How's things?" "Vic?" He managed to ask. "None other. But just call me Santa." he smiled through the thick white beard that seemed attached to the big floppy hat he wore. "Santa," Molly implored. "I want a bicycle for Chistmas." "Well, well, well... Bicycles are for big girls. Are you a big girl?" Molly nodded emphatically. "And I can't give anyone a present unless they've been good. Have you been a good girl?" She nodded again. "Well, in that case, I'll have my helper bring your present out." Vic set Molly down and turned toward the bedroom door. "Hey, dollface! You're on!" Everyone turned to the doorway where a stunning vision emerged. Leeta wore something very red and very sparkly, with a hat identical to Vic's. She was pushing a small, bright yellow bicycle with training wheels attached. "A bike!!!!!!!!" "Merry Christmas, honey." Vic beamed. Molly momentarily hugged his leg, then ran off to examine her bike, party and Santa forgotten. Vic smiled and then looked around. "Hey, what's a guy got to do to get a drink around here?" Rom handed him a punch and he nodded his thanks. "How on earth did you...???" Sisko asked his chief engineer and chief medical officer, both of whom were sharing congratulatory smiles. "Not that difficult, and since Miles had to test the prototype portable hologenerator Starfleet Command sent the specs for, Vic was the natural choice to try it out. The uses for them will be astronomical." "Yeah, put me out of a job," Miles grunted. "A hologram doesn't need a biosuit to work in an irradiated engine compartment." "Or in the station's waste reclamation unit?" Rom asked hopefully. Bashir nodded and smiled at him, but Odo was still puzzled. "Portable hologenerator?" "Vic's wearing it around his neck under that get up." Miles pointed. "Heavy, too." Vic acknowledged. "But it's great getting out of that mausoleum up there at the bar." "Excuse me." "No offense, Quark." "None taken. Now... who's having more eggnog?" Several people grabbed another glass, including Nerys who used her glass to wash down her filched cookies. Odo was still staring at Vic and did not notice. "I find it hard to believe you're... out here walking and talking." "And drinking. This is great eggnog." Vic smiled. "What ya got in here, Quark, old friend?" "Kenarian rum." "I'll remember that." Vic eyed his friend. "Won't even pretend to drink, Odo? I know you can do it." Odo sighed a little, then accepted a glass of eggnog. "Very well. In the spirit of the party." "That's the ticket, Nanook." "Nanook?" Kasidy looked puzzled. "Is that your given name, Odo?" Before Odo could correct her misconception, Vic turned and smiled. "Nah, I just call him that 'cause he reminds me of Nanook of the North. Or I should say 'reminded' me. Now I think maybe I should call him 'old Blue eyes'." Keiko was curious about this reference. Odo was profoundly glad he could no longer blush as Vic proceeded to relate how surprisingly good he was at singing. Of course, Vic didn't know this was after he had practiced a great deal and made modifications to his vocal cords, but it still made him uncomfortable. Especially when Ezri suddenly piped up. "Oh, now I want to hear him sing something." "Yes. Sing us a Christmas carol." "Well... I don't have any accompaniment," Odo managed to say, now extremely flustered. "No problem. Just tell me what you want to sing. The computer will provide it." "I... I don't know any Christmas songs." "Wrong-oh, daddy-oh." Vic shook his head, making the bell at the end of his cap jingle and causing Molly and Leeta to giggle. "That song I taught you. In Latin? That's a Christmas song." "It is?" "It is. One of the oldest around. And next to 'O' Holy Night, at least to this lapsed Catholic boy, one of the most beautiful." "Well, I--" "I love hearing you sing, sweetheart." Kira said simply and Odo looked to her. She smiled and all resistance melted away. He merely nodded at her, and she went to him and whispered something in his ear that made him swallow. "All right." He set down his untasted glass of nog. Then he nodded to Vic who called out, "Computer! Vic audio file C2." The strains of soft background music filled the room and Odo cleared his throat. Then he tentatively began to sing in a soft, but captivating baritone. "Adeste Fideles Laete Triumphantes Venite, venite in Bethlehem Natum Videte, Regem Angelorum..." He faltered slightly as suddenly he was joined in the chorus by Vic, Miles, Julian, and a suspiciously moist-eyed Kasidy. "Venite adoremus Venite adoremus Venite adoremus dominum" Only Odo, Vic and O'Brien, however, continued with the rest of the ancient, but venerable song. "Cantet nunc io Chorus angelorum Cantet nunc aula caelestium Gloria, gloria In excelsis Deo!" The rest joined in for the chorus again. "Venite adoremus Venite adoremus Venite adoremus dominum" Then fell silent as Odo and Vic stood side by side now, eyes closed and singing in perfect harmony. Even Miles did not join, merely mouthing the words, not even joining at the final chorus, seeming to enjoy the sound of Vic's strong tenor and Odo's less resonant, but pleasing baritone joined in song. "Ergo qui natus Die hodierna Jesu, tibi sit gloria Patris aeterni Verbum caro factus... Venite adoremus Venite adoremus Venite adoremus dominum" A silence fell, broken finally by the soft sound of Kira applauding, Bajoran-style, slapping the back of her hand against the palm of the other. Tears had filled her eyes. "It's such a pretty song. I wish I knew what it said." "Honey, trust me," Vic chuckled. "I went to an all-boys Catholic school and even *I* don't know what it says!" Miles found this hilarious and the rest chuckled and applauded the duo. Kira seemed to take it to heart, getting up to get another cup of eggnog before he could fetch one for her and then heading over to talk to Leeta and Rom. He was elbowed by Vic once more and thereby didn't notice Kira snagging yet two more cookies. The singer smiled at him through his Santa beard. "So, Nanook, my friend. How's it hanging?" "How's *what* hanging?" Vic laughed. "Whatever you shapeshifters use for cajones." Odo blinked. "Excuse me?" "Never mind. How's the lovelife?" Odo stood straighter. "I beg your pardon." "Hey, don't get holier than thou on me. Just a friendly question." "An impertinent and improper one." "Only if one of us was a Jesuit and we're not, so cool your jets, Nanook. I tend to speak my mind and I like to know my friends are happy. You're one of my friends - ergo, I want to know if you're happy." Odo considered this and relented. "Well. Yes, I suppose I am." Vic shook his head. "She's lovely, my friend. And you both look smashing together." "Thank you." "So... when's the big date?" "Big date? We already had our big date. You should remember, you were there." "No, I meant, when are you going to make an honest woman of her, Odo?" "An honest woman? Nerys *is* an honest woman." "I swear - 400 years and people lose all sense of perspective. Odo, my stubborn and literal friend, when are you going to ask Kira to marry you?" The changeling was startled at this, but was saved from having to answer by O'Brien stepping up and asking Vic a question about the portable hologenerator. He found himself pulling away from their conversation and looking to Kira. She was smiling brightly, her face flushed with pleasure, listening intently to some story Leeta was telling that seemed to make Rom a bit sheepish. He began heading their way. A snippet of quiet conversation made him pause, unseen, by the Christmas tree. Garak was speaking in a low tone but his sharp hearing easily picked up the conversation. "... what Julian would doubtles describe as a pain in the ass." A low feminine giggle pinpointed as his conversational partner as Ezri Dax. He began looking at the tree as if examining it, listening intently to this conversation, eavesdropping really, but when it pertained to Garak or Quark, Odo always told himself any eavesdropping was strictly business. "Maybe, but you weren't yourself." "Indeed. Some would say I was more myself than ever, I'd imagine." "So why did you come then, feeling that way, Elim?" Odo frowned. The young, eager, seemingly unsinkable Ezri Dax seemed to have succeeded in doing something no one else on the station had *ever* done. She was drawing Garak out of himself. "I think, my dear, that one could ask the same of you." Odo nodded then. That sounded more like Garak. Turning things back onto his counselour. Or was she? Odo could not recall if the Cardassian was still receiving counseling. Besides, even if he was, she wouldn't do that *here* at a Christmas party, would she? "I'm here because... I like parties." Odo could almost hear her shrug. "Jadzia liked them. She would be at the very center of this affair. You have been sitting here with me." "That's because I didn't want you sitting here behind the tree, all by yourself." "Are you implying I was spying?" "No. If I didn't know better, I'd say you were hiding." "For some nefarious purpose?" "No. I think you're uncomfortable being here, even though you were invited. I also think you're a lot more lonely than you let on Elim. In fact--" Before Odo could poke himself in an eye with a tree branch in his attempt to lean even closer, a tug at his sleeve made him jump. "Sorry, Odo. Just wondering what you found so interesting about the tree." "Oh, er... it's... interesting. What is the meaning of it? Are the decorations edible?" To his relief, Jake took his question at face value and he found himself drawn away from the intriguing conversation on the other side of the tree toward the confection table where Jake fortified and regaled Odo with a great deal of information regarding Earthly holiday traditions. (-|-) "He's so handsome." Leeta munched a cookie and winked at Kira conspiratorially. "I like him in the tuxedo." Kira agreed, eyeing Odo in a dreamy fashion. She had finished her cookies and felt warm and happy. Rom was scandalized as his wife nudged Kira and said in rapid Bajoran, "I bet you like him better out of it!" He was further shocked as the Colonel, normally a dignified and unflappable woman joined his wife in raucous, bawdy laughter, and added more information than he'd ever wanted to know about someone else's lovelife. What had gotten into them? Before he could say anything, Leeta began saying things about him and their own married life that made his eyes widen. "...and you should see Pookie here when he stands up on the bed an--" "All right! We're going now!" He announced, standing and yanking on her arm. Leeta looked startled and Kira frowned a little. Before she could ask, the returning Keiko called out from across the room, "So soon?" "Yes. I have to get up early and work at the bar. And so do *you*!" Rom hauled on Leeta's arm. To his relief, she followed him. To his chagrin, she called out one last retort to Kira. "I better go. I just love it when he's forceful like this!" Ears burning, Rom made his retreat. Whatever had gotten into his wife? "Hm. *They* left early." Kira turned to find an interested looking Julian wandering in her direction, popping a nut into his mouth. She nodded. "Yes. I guess when the mood hits." For some reason this made her chuckle and sip more egg nog. Julian paused in his chewing and examined her glass. "Is that egg nog, Kira?" She nodded. "Why?" "Yes, why?" They both turned as Odo stepped up now, a candy cane in hand, Jake having completed his lecture and headed off to talk with Nog. "Oh, nothing. It's just the Chief doctored it a little. And it's a touch lethal if too much is ingested." "This is only my second cup." "Oh, good, then. Besides, it doesn't really matter. If anyone needs it..." He pulled out a hypospray from his spotless tuxedo and smiled conspiratorially. "I have some detoxicant." "I hate that stuff. Makes me nauseous." "It affects Bajorans that way, but better nausea than nosebleeds, swollen hands and feet and a migraine." "I suppose." Kira made a face. "Anyway, the eggnog is nowhere near as lethal as the punch." Kira smiled. "And the punch is not as dangerous as the gingerbread." "The gingerbread?" Kira and Odo both looked startled and Bashir frowned. "Yes, well, you *are* aware of how ginger affects Bajorans Colonel." "I thought it was safe to eat. You used to tell Keiko to give me more ginger to help my hormone levels when I was carrying Kirayoshi." "Yes, but that's when you were pregnant. Ginger naturally increases certain hormonal levels in Bajorans. It also quickens the blood." "What does it do when they're not pregnant?" Odo asked with concern. "Oh, nothing dangerous. But mixed with the alcohol... well, I wouldn't worry. You haven't had many cookies have you?" "She had two when we first came in," Odo informed him. "Well, that should be all right then." Bashir smiled. He shook his head and chuckled. "Not that it's dangerous at all, just... well, it tends to make Bajorans... those who aren't pregnant that is... amorous." "Amorous?" "I *said* it wasn't dangerous. All those extra hormones have to do *something* if they aren't helping your body prepare for pregnancy." Julian got up, patting her arm. "Don't worry. Two cookies won't affect you all that much. Might make tonight a little more special, though." He winked, then headed off to join the brooding Worf by the Christmas tree and left a relieved Odo and a suddenly pensive Kira. "Is something wrong?" Odo's question shook Kira from her reverie. "No." She forced a smile, trying to ignore the fact that she'd actually eaten much more than two very ginger-y cookies. She focused on something else. "What's that?" "Jake was explaining the Earthly holiday traditions. This is a candycane." "Oh, I remember! But they're *way* too sweet." "Hm. I probably can taste them then." Odo looked at the candycane speculatively. Kira smiled, remembering how they had discovered he *could* taste food as a changeling, but only if it was strongly flavoured. She considered the red and white confection now and frowned. "Why would anyone make a cane out of candy? And canes are a lot bigger, aren't they?" The cane Odo held was half-a-foot long. "Apparently they were signs that elves had been present." "Elves?" Odo dutifully began reciting some of the lore Jake had been detailing to him. He relaxed, his gestures more animated than normal and for a moment, Kira was reminded of how excited he'd been when he'd first gotten his quarters... was it really only three years ago? He had been so enthused. She frowned now, remembering that she'd felt privileged to share it with him. She had thought how nice it would be if someone ever saw what a sweet and wonderful person Odo was. She had thought if someone ever saw him in the same way, how very lucky that someone would be. _Prophets... I *am*._ A warm rush passed through her, tingling through her hands and feet, then settling in her groin. She smiled with anticipation now, watching his bright blue eyes and his hands gesturing. _He has such... incredible fingers. So long. So sexy._ "Nerys?" She blinked to find him watching her expectantly. "What?" "Did you hear what I said?" _And that voice. I love hearing that voice... especially in bed._ "Let's go to bed, love." "Nerys?" Odo sat back, startled, looking around briefly to ensure no one else had heard her. "I want you." She smiled seductively at him and he nearly dropped the candycane. "Nerys, I don't think this--" he got no further as Kira stood and grabbed his hand. She turned and spoke loudly. "Miles! Keiko! It was a lovely party! But the constable and I need to go now." "So soon?" Miles frowned and Keiko elbowed him warningly. "Oh, yes." Kira pulled Odo's unresisting arm and waved enough for the two of them. "Good night everyone!" "Good night, you two." "Merry Christmas!" "Good night." "Night." "See you later!" "Good night!" The living room doors closed on Kira's wide smile and Odo's mildly confused, but pleasant expression. He still held the candycane in one hand. A momentary silence fell on the partygoers. "Hm." Bashir lifted a brow, then turned to Jake questioningly. "Jake? How much ginger was in those cookies?" 2b cont'd in 3/3 DS9, Sweet Tooth [PG-13/R] O/K by Judith Macquinn (OdoGoddess@aol.com) ** Please do not archive, re-post or re-mail. "Mm... these corridors are *much* too long." She pulled him along at a rapid pace, heading for his quarters unerringly; they were closer. She needed the closest quarters possible. It felt like her loins were on fire, her whole body tingling with need. "Remember what Bashir said about the ginger in the cookies?" Odo nodded. "Yes." "Well, I had a few more than two." "You did?" She nodded. Odo swallowed. "How many?" "I had seven." "Good lord." Kira smiled at his tone, then almost laughed as she saw his doorway right ahead. She pressed his code to enter and finally, the two of them were alone. "You had seven?" Odo was aghast. "Okay, maybe eight." Kira held his hand closer now, up to her chest. She was a bit surprised to feel a pulse before realizing it was her own, throbbing rapidly at her fingertips and the base of her palm. "Maybe we should ask the doc--" "I don't need him, I need *you*. Touch me, Odo. I need you to touch me." He swallowed and closed his hand on hers. He came closer, nodded at her, bent his head to place a kiss on her lips that she eagerly returned. The hand she held began to liquefy and she gasped at the sensation, runnels of thick silken warmth running along her arm, lifting the fine hairs there. He continued to kiss her, against the soft sounds she made, feeling her arching closer to him and reveling in the feeling. He reached his other hand to touch her and realized he still held the candycane. He smiled then and ran it lightly along her other arm, even as his golden liquid fingers caressed her elbow, further. Soon his liquefied arm reached the barrier of her dress... slid beneath it. "Odo!" she broke free of his lips, eyes full of passion and meeting his. His deep blue eyes held a promise and as her lips opened to speak, he pressed the candy cane against them. She tasted it, then began sucking it suggestively. His changeling substance seemed to writhe in time to her sucking and the expression in Kira's eyes grew wicked indeed. The sensation of liquid friction was intensely stimulating, not just for Kira. Odo could feel his lower torso tingling, wanting to lose it's outer aspect and even a bit of cohesion as Kira's fingers dug into him and she threw her head back as part of him wound its way behind her neck and along her spine. He bent to kiss her again, the candycane between their joined lips. He could feel her tongue toying with the edge of it, even as he realized that he could, in fact, taste the cane. It was sharp and tangy and sweet. He kissed her harder, gratified to feel her grasp at the back of his own head. The candycane fell down between them, forgotten as he released her lips to gasp. "Nerys..." Her eyes were tightly closed and her breath came in pants. Odo felt like his entire body would go liquid for a moment, then convulse with the build up of static energy. Instead he stopped moving, forcing her to open her eyes and look at him. The feelings contained, although friction's memory sent gratifyingly pleasant pulsing sensations deep within him. Kira could feel this pulsation against her skin, along her spine. More, she could see how this made him feel. "Just let it happen." Her hands urged him yet again, fingers caressing him where she could. Her eyes urged him as well. "Just let it happen." "Nerys." his voice was so breathless only her proximity allowed her to hear him and she brought his head to her shoulder with one hand. "Let it happen." she murmured, stroking his hair, his back, and urging him on with the other. She quivered as she felt the pulsation from his liquid form against her begin to throb. She looked deep into his eyes and smiled. It was all the answer he needed. His whole outer form released for a moment as the static charge ripped through him. The sensation was not merely an external event, but internalized, a rush of vast and pleasurable release which staggered him with it's intensity, even as he reveled in the sounds she made as his liquid form rushed along her skin like a torrent. Kira found herself falling, uncaring, certain he would not let her crash. Somehow, some way, the floor beneath her was cushioned. Somehow, some way, her clothes had disappeared and all that mattered was they were joined fully, humanoid flesh to changeling flesh. The sounds that filled the cabin were not entirely humanoid, but they could not be mistaken for anything less than ecstatic. Nerys found herself gasping, then screaming with a burst of release that found her again, and again, and yet again. The urgent need for release shattered against this continual barrage of pleasure and Kira suddenly roared, a primal sound that very slowly died. As the sensations died, as well, she felt her lover slowly, gently disengage, slipping from her to pool at her side and reform into his humanoid body, but as nude as she was. His long fingers quivered with passion as he caressed her face. "Nerys..." They kissed for several moments, before he pulled back again and gathered her close, both still trembling from the experience. After a moment, she realized something was pressing against one of her hipbones. She shifted and then reached under her and brought up... the candycane. Kira started laughing merrily. Odo smiled at her pleasure, then reached across and took it from her. He sucked on it thoughtfully as Kira slowly recovered. It wasn't the best thing he'd tasted, but it certainly had a pleasing flavour. Abruptly, he pulled it out of his mouth and looked at it. Then he turned to Kira with a wicked gleam in his eye. "Odo?" "Mm. Close your eyes." Before she could argue, he kissed her eyes shut and smiled with satisfaction as she shuddered in anticipation of whatever he was going to do. He ran the damp sticky cane along her neck, down to her breasts and ran it around them in circles. Then he dipped his head down to gently lick his way down the path he made, removing the traces of candy from her body. As he gently sucked on her hard nipples, he gently teased her navel with the end of the cane, making her writhe beneath his touch, then buck slightly as his mouth made it's way there, tongue dipping deep to savour the taste. Her fingers dug into his head as his own fingers teased their way down to her warm, damp crotch. Then she gasped as he gently began to insert the cane end inside her, even as his lips made their unerring way to the damp, fragrant hair that curled along her labia. The mint from the cane began to tingle inside her and she began to breathe in pants again. "Oh... Oh, Odo...!" He gave up his control to allow his tongue to liquefy against her throbbing center and encircle it, caressing it more intimately than fingers ever could. He closed his own eyes with gratification as she screamed above and writhed beneath him. Then inspiration struck him. He allowed his fingers to liquefy as well, and twirl down the length of the candycane. The heady sensation of Kira's heated inner juices, combined with the sharp, tangy sweetness of the candycane made Odo's head swim. They both gasped, Kira at the sensation of a deeply pleasurable fullness, Odo at the twin sensations of pleasuring and being pleasured. As Kira bucked, he quickly removed the candycane and discarded it; he did not wish to injure her. Then he replaced it with his own eager flesh, joining to her humanoid-fashion, pleased to be able to look at her lovely face, flushed with passion beneath him. He thrust deep into her, meeting her own hips urgent movements, feeling her heated depths starting to throb around him. Soon a spasm captured her and she shook beneath him, grasping him tightly as he shuddered his way to his own form of release, different from his changeling senses, but gratifying nonetheless. An almost reverent quiet filled the room then, as both lovers slowly returned to their senses. Odo gently disengaged and gathered Kira to him, then made her gasp as he lifted her, effortlessly, from the floor. He walked her to his bedroom and soon, both were beneath the soft covers, gently caressing. "That was wonderful," she murmured, kissing his chin. Kira smiled when she felt the strong vibration caused by Odo chuckling. "What is it?" "I'm going to have to learn to make those cookies." ~ finis ~ ---------------------------------- December 1998.
